We see ourselves facilitating this change, through technology and dogged customer centricity. PhonePe went live in 2016 and crossed 5 bn transactions on its platform in 2019. In 2020, PhonePe forayed into diverse areas with the launch of insurance and super funds. Today we have 440+mm registered users and 35 mm merchants live on our platform.

Job Objective:

Offline Merchants Business focuses on driving acceptance of PhonePes offline payment solutions across the country. Enterprise Cluster Manager is responsible for building a strong Franchisee & OMC merchant base and ensuring a strong relationship with them. The incumbent will be responsible for not only adding new accounts to our network, but also to nurture and drive an increase of market share of PhonePe in the business. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to generate revenue through multiple products launched as we move forward in our journey.

The role will manage a team of 10+ (Business Development Executives / Business Development Associates / Territory Sales Executive) & report to Enterprise Cluster Head.

Responsibilities:

Business Growth:

  • Grow distribution and market share in the assigned area of business
  • Develop sales agenda to align and drive business in the market
  • Drive acquisition of new merchants & retention of existing merchant base
  • Understand tools available & derive monetization from current & new accounts
  • Should be able to derive progressive performance from team members, implement sales agenda & conduct business reviews
  • Monitor competition activity in key accounts & ensure appropriate response strategies are formulated and implemented.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Handle merchant escalations in market
  • Handle escalations on processes & timelines including accurate payout calculation & disbursement
  • Work closely with HR, Supply Chain & other internal teams for process implementations

People Management:

  • Onboard and provide on-the-job-training to the BDEs to improve performance.
  • Work towards hiring, retention and engagement of team members
  • Monitor KPIs and coach team members on an ongoing basis
  • Drive execution rigor & feedback by being in the market & observe BDE visits to their designated geography
  • Motivate the team by regularly communicating about monthly schemes and incentives
  • Work closely with team towards adherence to timelines & target achievements on a daily basis
  • Ensure quality of acquisition by monitoring adherence to compliance standards at all times in their region

The incumbent will frontend the team by visiting market on 80% of expected working days

Requirements:

  • MBA from Tier 2/3 campus with good academic record
  • Proven working experience of 4-6 years in business development (at-least 1 year in MT/KAM)
  • Exposure to the start up environment is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Problem solving abilities with strong bias for impact
  • Strong ethics and discretion while dealing with customers
  • Drive for result, able to demonstrate/quantify success relative established targets and metrics
  • Should have handled team and processes like goal setting, performance management
