An Engineering Aide provides technical and administrative support to engineers, performing duties likedata collection, technical documentation, routine drafting, and assisting with field inspections and equipment maintenance. They help with project schedules, budgets, and contracts, operating CAD software and ensuring compliance with project specifications and codes.

Technical Duties

Drafting and Design:

Perform routine drafting, sketching, and lettering, and assist in preparing plans, designs, and specifications using CAD software.

Data Collection Analysis:

Collect, organize, and analyze engineering data, and prepare reports and presentations based on this data.

Field Support:

Assist in inspecting construction projects by observing work quality, checking for compliance with specifications and building codes, and providing technical assistance to contractors.

Equipment Maintenance:

Operate, maintain, and repair laboratory and other engineering equipment.

Administrative Logistical Support

Project Management:

Help establish and monitor project schedules and budgets, and assist with the administration of construction and consulting contracts.

Record Keeping:

Maintain and organize engineering documents and records.

Technical Support:

Provide technical support to other departments or team members.

Required Skills

Technical Proficiency:

Use of CAD software and understanding of basic engineering principles, including mathematics.

Communication:

Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, other departments, and the public.
