Job Title: Engineering Manager, Search and Semantics The Search Engineering Team at Flipkart plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our platform delivers relevant search results efficiently, enhancing the overall user experience. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join the Search and Semantic team within the Consumer Shopping Experiences organization in Flipkart. The primary focus of this role is to lead a team of skilled engineers who harness the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) and multimodal technology for various business applications. The ideal candidate will be able to drive the roadmap of business problems with a deep knowledge of Gen AI tech and the relevant application domain. This role requires a forward-thinking mindset, rapid iteration skills, supreme collaboration and a passion for staying ahead in the ever-evolving Gen AI field. Key Responsibilities :- ● Build and nurture a world class team of engineers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and delivering industry-leading solutions in e-commerce search. ● Foster a culture of continuous experimentation and learning, encouraging the team to iterate rapidly and leverage data-driven insights to drive improvements across funnel and user satisfaction. ● Manage roadmap, project priorities and owning delivery of solutions. ● Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, encouraging team members to iterate quickly and learn from successes and failures. ● Collaborate closely with Product Managers, other Engineering leads, and Data Science experts to align on priorities and drive cross-functional initiatives. ● Build a deep understanding of the Gen AI landscape, constantly exploring new technologies and methodologies. ● Develop, optimize, and deploy applications using large language models (LLMs) to meet specific business requirements and use cases across various business units and functions. ● Stay informed about the latest advancements in Generative AI research and techniques, and establish best practices for effectively leveraging Gen AI. ● Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices. ● Monitor application performance metrics and implement optimizations to enhance search relevance and speed. ● Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations on GenAI led initiatives and opportunities. Qualifications: ● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. ● 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on search technologies. ● 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role, preferably managing engineering teams of 8-12 people. ● Solid proficiency (4+ years) in Python and related AI/ML libraries. ● Experience deploying AI-driven data products or solutions. ● Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code and work collaboratively. ● Hands-on experience with Generative AI tech: Open AI / Gemini models or other open source large language models (LLMs) and large vision / multimodal models. ● Experience with Embeddings and Vector Databases, and frameworks such as Langchain or HuggingFace. ● Deep understanding of Gen AI paradigms such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture and prompt engineering techniques. ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders. ● Proven track record of delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget. ● Passion for technology and a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and advancements Show more Show less
