Engineer / Senior Engineer - Fettling

1. Responsible for smooth operations of fettling and finishing of castings within the lead time

Identify castings to be fettled from Heat Treatment inventory on day to day basis in SAP.

Prepare and execute daily planning based on the availability of manpower and equipments (grinders, welding machines, shot blast machines etc.,)

Analyse the castings receieved after HT and direct the for Coughing to trim risers, vent, padding and runners.

Ensure the shot blasting is done post coughing to remove the sand particles.

Analyse and direct the welding team on the type of welding to be adopted for the any particular grade of castings. Monitoring of grinding of castings.

Close monitoring of working of all machines and equipments during the fettling process.

2. Focus on continuous improvement and reducing Quality rejections.

Co-ordinate with Quality Control department to carry out quality tests ( NDT, mechanical, Chemical) of the castings.

Incase of any defects identified, direct the coughing and welding team for appropriate rework and corrections.

Co-ordinate with Laboratory for Hardness testing of castings and ensure the quality are as per the requirements.

Co-ordinate with Final Inspection team for the Quality clearance.

Co-ordinate with production team through Quality and Process control to avoid any defects of same nature. Responsible for moving castings to HT for Stress relieving (if required).

3. On time delivery of castings and production support.

Co-ordinate with expedition team and hand over for machining/despatch. Upkeeping machines and equipments.

Ensure adhrence to safety and 5s at workplace.

Educate workmen on the standards and procedures to increase the efficiency and quality. Co-ordinate with Maintenance during breakdown and preventive maintenance.

Co-ordinate with purchase department for procurement of chains for Shot Blast machine and Cranes.
