Roles and responsibilities

Maintenance and repair

· Assist electricians with routine and preventative maintenance on all electrical forging equipment, including motors, control panels, presses, and furnaces.

· Troubleshoot and diagnose basic electrical malfunctions in equipment using testing devices like mustimeters.

· Help repair or replace faulty electrical wiring, components, and fixtures.

· Participate in the maintenance of high-voltage systems and the plant's 11KV/440V distribution system.

Installation and assembly

· Assist with the installation of new electrical systems, conduits, and wiring for plant upgrades or new machinery.

· Help with the assembly and installation of electrical components such as motor controls, switches, and sensors.

· Prepare and cut wires and conduits according to specifications.

Operational support

· Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to assist with projects.

· Support the utilization of specialized equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used to automate forging processes.

· Collaborate with production personnel to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize operational downtime.

Safety and housekeeping

· Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).

· Ensure that all electrical work is compliant with the National Electrical Code and other relevant regulations.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly handle all tools and equipment.

· Inspect work areas and equipment to identify and report any safety hazards.

Teamwork and documentation

· Work under the direct supervision of licensed electricians or senior electrical staff.

· Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.

· Document work performed, parts used, and maintenance activities.

Required skills and qualifications

· Educational background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A vocational or technical course in electricity or a related field is often preferred.

· Experience: Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is beneficial, particularly with heavy equipment.

· Technical knowledge: Basic knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components, including familiarity with AC/DC systems, motor controls, and sensors.

· Physical stamina: The ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and at heights.

· Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to help identify and resolve electrical issues.

· Blueprint reading: The ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.

· Safety orientation: A strong commitment to safety procedures and regulations is non-negotiable in a heavy industrial environment.
