What you'll do... About The Team (Health & Wellness Pharmacy Technology) Our Health and Wellness Pharmacy Technology team is part of Walmart Global Tech. We are a group of engineers and software leaders. We build technology to connect and enable our pharmacy associates with our patients, both online and in store. We use cutting-edge technology and have a blend of in-store and cloud-based approaches to best serve our customers. We are continually modernizing the footprint of 5400+ pharmacies to reduce friction in our Health & Wellness environments and experiences. What you'll do... As a Software Engineering Director for Pharmacy Tech, you will lead our Pharmacy Technology development teams. You will be managing a global team of 50+ technologists. The role entails the following responsibilities: Complete ownership of Pharmacy Digital products including product development, engineering excellence and operational excellence Work with a team of Architects and Tech Leads to define, own and implement the technology strategy. Define engineering practices, product development patterns and drive products development to scale to Walmart requirements. Drive best practices for product development to keep team, cost and processes lean, deliver more and optimize the waste. Build, own and mentor the team of high-performance engineering team, product owners and engineering managers, provide thought leadership across each of these functions to bring best efficiencies and quality. Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Partner with other functional leaders to evolve the multi-year product & technology roadmap, which includes an ongoing approach to accelerate modernization. Hire talent, mentor current associates and grow the team Build and implement a succession pipeline. Proactively monitor, identify, and resolve customer issues. What you will bring: Technical leadership in design, implementation and support of core platform products that are highly reliable, flexible, and scalable. Health/Pharma industry experience along with building & managing large scale Retail platforms/applications. Experienced in Platform / Product development at scale. Hands on contribution to design reviews, code reviews and technical trouble shooting. In depth Knowledge of Microservices, Deployment pipeline, containers, Kubernetes, open stack and deployment patterns are desirable. Must be aware of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools and products. Design and architecture understanding of how to build these products are added advantage. Hands on ability to drive design decisions with clear understanding of tradeoffs. Strong experience in driving Engineering and Operational Excellence including Observability, Incident Management, Performance instrumentation, tuning and optimization of large-scale products. Have the knowledge of design patterns that help building cloud native products. Experience in Supply Chain and eCommerce domain will be a huge positive. Good experience of working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner. Provide & coach the team on non-functional requirements for world-class reliability and cost-efficiency throughout the product development lifecycle. Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies. Excellent interpersonal skills, good with people, ability to negotiate. Experience with hiring and building teams from ground up Keen eye for new technology trends and how they can be used to help grow the business Experience building products that are powered by massive data. Good academic record and graduated (B.E/ B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech/ MBA) Strong senior level engineering leadership expertise in medium to large size company Proven experience in hiring and mentoring world-class engineering teams Proven capability of running & managing systems at scale, as well as modernizing them while continuing to drive business value. Biased towards innovation /Customer empathy. Minimum Qualifications: bachelors or masters degree in computer science or equivalent 18+ years of experience in platform and product development Proven experience in building high-performance teams and scalable best practices in SaaS/Online/Enterprise Product engineering organization Leadership Expectations: Hands on problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication with stakeholders in a matrix environment. Building partnerships, influencing and negotiation are critical expectation for this role. Technical Skills: Languages - Java/J2EE, Spring boot, Dotnet, Front end Technologies, Mobile (IOS/Android) Micro Services Architecture, Event-Driven Architectures Distributed Computing, Large scale Databases- Cassandra, Mongo DB, Cosmos Cloud - Azure or GCP Messaging Queues - Kafka, RabbitMQ Mandatory Skills Candidate must possess years of experience in leading engineering teams in a large retail/health enterprise. In addition to strong engineering experience, the candidate must be a people leader who can lead omni commerce enterprise strategy in delivering best in class omni channel platform.
