Digital Publishing Specialist (EPUB + XML)

As a Digital Publishing Specialist / EPUB-XML Operator, your role involves creating, structuring, and validating digital content for eBooks, online learning platforms, and publishing systems using EPUB and XML workflows. You will utilize industry-standard tools to ensure error-free deliverables across various devices and platforms. Your responsibilities include: - Convert manuscripts and source files into EPUB2/EPUB3 formats. - Apply XML structuring (DTD, XSD, Schema) for content organization. - Troubleshoot and fix validation errors in EPUB and XML files. - Ensure compatibility of digital content across devices (Kindle, iOS, Android, etc.). - Integrate XML-based workflows with Content Management Systems (CMS). - Collaborate with editors, designers, and QA teams for smooth delivery. - Stay updated with the latest publishing technologies, EPUB standards, and XML best practices. To excel in this role, you should possess the following key skills: - Strong knowledge of EPUB2/EPUB3, XML, DTD, XSD. - Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, and XHTML. - Familiarity with tools like Oxygen XML Editor, Sigil, Calibre, InDesign, Kindle Previewer. - Understanding of XSLT, XPath, and Schema validation (preferred). - Ability to handle formatting, structuring, and metadata tagging. - Excellent attention to detail, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
