Job Description of DG Technician cum operator

A DG Technician cum Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining diesel generator (DG) sets, including starting, shutting down, monitoring output, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure a continuous power supply. They must also handle safety protocols, conduct performance tests, and document all activities related to the equipment. Key skills include knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

· Operation: Start, stop, and monitor the operation of DG sets to ensure a stable power supply.

· Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs on equipment.

· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems with the DG sets.

· Performance Monitoring: Check equipment performance, regulate controls, and adjust settings to meet operational standards.

· Documentation: Accurately record all maintenance, repair, and service activities.

· Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and company policies to create a safe work environment.

· Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain an inventory of necessary tools and spare parts.

· Coordination: Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet project goals and ensure smooth operations.

· Mechanical Expertise: Proficient in working with diesel engines and mechanical components.

· Electrical Aptitude: Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and connections within DG sets.

Qualifications

· Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is often required, with a technical diploma or certification in engineering or a related field preferred.

· Experience: Proven experience as a technician, particularly with diesel engines and generator sets.

· Other: A valid driver's license may be needed for field service roles, along with the ability to work extended hours.
