What You’ll Do

• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for automating builds and releases.
• Manage the Linux packaging process using distro-native tools (dpkg, dh_python3, rpm, dnf, yum).
• Keep packaging aligned with the latest best practices and distro recommendations.
• Coordinate releases across multiple internal Git repositories.
• Maintain versioning, changelogs, GPG signing, and other release metadata.
• Ensure quality and reproducibility of builds across Ubuntu and Fedora.

Qualification and requirements:

Must-Have Skills

• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining .deb and .rpm packages.
• Deep understanding of Linux packaging tools and policies for Python and Rust codebases.
• Examples: debhelper, rpmbuild, lintian, dnf
• Proven experience with CI/CD systems, especially GitLab CI.
• Comfortable orchestrating releases across multiple repositories.
• Strong Python scripting skills and familiarity with Linux build tools.
• Experience managing release lifecycles, versioning, and changelogs.
• Experience publishing to Ubuntu PPAs (Launchpad) and Fedora COPR.

Bonus Points

• Experience with GitOps or release-as-code workflows.
• Familiarity with secure packaging (e.g., CVE scanning, SBOM generation).
• Contributions to Linux distro packaging or relevant open source projects.
• Experience with GTK or PyGObject.
• Knowledge of the Rust toolchain and build processes.
