Design Engineer - Screw Pump

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for New Product Development / Order engineering / BOM / Technical Documentation and Respective Calculations related to highly customized and high quality Industrial 3-Screw and 2-Screw pumps. Experience with Centrifugal Pumps and Reciprocating Pumps will be added advantage. Provide engineering support for internal and external needs. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work on Product design and development activities and Order related activities. Develop innovative and cost-effective mechanical designs using plant standard procedures, engineering knowledge and experience. Performing related engineering calculations for day-to-day activities and long-term projects. Review customer specification, analyze engineering requirement and propose engineered solutions. Working with Design and Manufacturing Engineers, following the manufacturing and assembling process, employ problem solving skills to resolve issues encountered. Creation of 3D models, assemblies, drawings and BOM using Inventor, Solidworks, Autocad, SAP and e-pdm, Vault. Creation of P&ID’s, GA’s, fabrication drawings, bill of materials. Knowledge of GD&T. Proper documentation of all work. Work independently or as a team member in the global engineering team. Interactions with global engineering teams. Liaise with production plant during build process. Engineering change management with internal departments. Responsible for the Metrics on the Job as set by the company. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of Machine design, fluid mechanics, vibration, strength of material, Material selection, ASME codes, manufacturing processes. Experience/knowledge on Screw pumps for oil and Gas applications or Industrial applications, Instrumentation, API sealing Plans. Strong interpersonal skills for communicating thoughts and ideas Knowledge of design software (Autocad, Inventor, Solidworks) and ERP systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE BE degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-10 years post graduate related working experience as a Mechanical Engineer for industrial equipment (Mainly on Screw pumps and if any positive displacement pumps) and associated packaging. Strong CAD skills and practical understanding and application of Mechanical Engineering principles for industrial product design. Knowledge of design software (AutoCAD , Inventor, Solidworks) and ERP system such as SAP.
