Design Engineer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

This is a Design Engineer position with responsibilities to design and launch new products by

1. Electrical interconnect related design experience
2. Direct customer interface experience on technical design

4. SolidWorks experience.
5. Knowledge of connectors or small mechanical/electrical
6. components and assembly.

10. Exposure to small metal parts stamping and molding.
11. Proven tolerance analysis skills.
12. Be legally able to travel in N/A, Europe and Asia.
13. FEA, simulation and modeling experience.
14. Geometric tolerancing.
15. SPC (Basic).

JOB DUTIES:
• Design/propose and develop connector/cage for new or revised existing products ensuring manufacturing feasibility withsheet metal strip progressive die stamping, thin wall plastic injection molding, diecasting components for automatedassembly manufacture processes.• Create marketing/engineering proposal concepts for customers.• Coordinate a global team of engineers in supporting the design, development and testing of new products.• Resolve engineering and design related issues as they may occur.• Check, approve and process drawings, BOMs, Item Masters.• Perform Mechanical simulation and tolerance analysis to ensure the design will work in all possible scenarios.

1. Work very closely with Signal Integrity team to ensure the design meets the electrical requirements while taking into account
2. of the manufacturing limitations.
3. Work with ME/NPI/QA/Purchasing team to ensure designs meet both cost, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
4. Facilitate design for manufacturability (DFM) with internal process development team and external assembly tooling and
5. fixtures teams.
6. Drive product design, risk reduction and cost saving efforts through validation and verification activities such as FEA,
7. Tolerance analysis, prototyping, and verification testing prior to production tooling launch.
8. Provide engineering drawing, assembly and test specifications, product prototypes and/or customer samples.
9. Ensure latest models and drawings are updated into WindChill.
10. Manage component and assembly drawing package creation, release drawings/models for tooling build/modification through
11. the ECN process.
12. Contact vendors and suppliers to explore cost reduced products or processes which may be applied to new and existing
13. product designs.
14. Provide support to manufacturing and quality engineering teams on assigned product lines with failure and root cause
15. analysis for production related quality and design issues.
16. Specify materials for molding, stamping and die casting.
17. Specify plating and plating requirements for components.
