Job Description

Purpose/Objective


The Shift In charge - Process is responsible for supervising and managing all operational activities during their designated shift for the Oxygen Free Copper rod (OFC) and Alloy rod plant (Cu-Ag, Cu-Mg). This role involves leading a team of operators and technicians to ensure production targets are met efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all quality standards and process parameters. The successful candidate will be a technical expert and an effective leader with a strong commitment to safety and quality.


Key Responsibilities of Role


  • Production Management:

    Oversee and direct all shift activities related to the OFC and alloy production processes, including melting, casting, drawing, and coiling.
  • Process Control:

    Monitor critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, feed rate, etc.) and make adjustments to maintain optimal plant efficiency and product quality. Troubleshoot operational issues and deviations to minimize downtime and resolve problems promptly.
  • Team Leadership:

    Lead, train, and manage a team of operators and technicians, delegating tasks and fostering a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
  • Quality Assurance:

    Conduct in-process quality control checks and ensure finished products conform to required specifications for Oxygen Free Copper and various alloys. Coordinate with the Quality Control (QC) department for sample testing and analysis.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    Enforce strict adherence to all company and regulatory safety protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and environmental guidelines. Act as the first responder for any plant-related emergencies or incidents.
  • Maintenance Coordination:

    Coordinate with the maintenance department (Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation) for equipment checks, preventative maintenance (PPM), and breakdown repairs. Ensure proper handing over and taking back of equipment for maintenance without impacting production targets.
  • Reporting and Documentation:

    Maintain accurate shift logbooks, production reports, inventory records, and incident reports. Conduct shift handover meetings to inform the incoming shift of plant status.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall plant performance.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Metallurgy, Chemical, or Production Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience in copper processing or metallurgical plant operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Oxygen Free Copper production and alloying techniques preferred.
