Job Description

Role Purpose:

To ensure efficient management of materials, inventory, storage, logistics, and scrap disposal systems in alignment with Legrand Group norms and ISO standards. The role is accountable for maintaining inventory accuracy, implementing Lean practices, driving compliance, and developing the materials management team.

Key Responsibilities:

Material & Inventory Management

  • Reconcile material supplied to in-house manufacturing shops and vendors as per group norms.
  • Maintain accurate material records and ensure periodic physical verification matches ERP system data.
  • Maintain ABC classification of inventory based on transaction frequency and value.
  • Ensure timely return of rejected materials to suppliers within 3 days.

Storage & Handling

  • Ensure safe and compliant storage of various material categories (perishable, branded, flammable items).
  • Drive best practices for storage layout, labeling, FIFO/FEFO, and visual management systems.

Scrap & Waste Management

  • Manage collection, storage, disposal, and reconciliation of scrap (ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, etc.) per ISO and group standards.
  • Maintain documentation for traceability and audit compliance.

Compliance & System Implementation

  • Implement and sustain ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems in store operations.
  • Drive SGIA, POKA-YOKE, KANBAN, and Lean initiatives under the Legrand Way program.
  • Promote and maintain 5S, safety, and near-miss reporting culture.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Manage local purchasing of consumables, general items, and maintenance spares from requisition to delivery in line with DOA and group norms.
  • Develop and maintain healthy vendor relationships ensuring timely supply and quality compliance.

People Management

  • Develop and mentor team members through job rotation, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the team.

Key Competencies & Skills:

  • Knowledge of logistics, store management, and scrap disposal systems.
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing materials, processes, and ERP systems.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate / Diploma in Supply Chain, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in materials or store management in a manufacturing setup.
  • Knowledge of

    GST, E-Way Bill

    , and ISO

    9001 / 14001 / 45001

    compliance standards.
  • Exposure to

    LEAN, KANBAN, 5S

    , and continuous improvement initiatives.

Awareness of industry best practices and product class trends.
