Deputy General Manager - MEP

Role & responsibilities

1. Project Management and Execution:

• Lead and manage the entire MEP team, including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors, across various project sites.
• Develop and implement project strategies, plans, and procedures for MEP works, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
• Monitor and control project progress, identifying potential risks, delays, and challenges, and implementing proactive mitigation plans.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, and low-voltage systems.
• Ensure that all MEP works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, drawings, and applicable building codes and regulations.

2. Design and Engineering Coordination:

• Review and approve MEP design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings, ensuring they are technically sound and coordinated with architectural, civil, and structural designs.
• Collaborate with architects, consultants, and other stakeholders to provide technical clarifications and resolve design-related issues.
• Implement value engineering initiatives to optimize cost and enhance the performance of MEP systems without compromising quality.
• Ensure timely review and approval of all engineering deliverables and submissions.

3. Quality and Safety Assurance:

• Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures and standards for all MEP works.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor the quality of installation and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Champion a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring strict compliance with all health and safety regulations and protocols.
• Oversee the preparation of final handover documents, including as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.

4. Budgeting and Procurement:

• Manage the MEP budget, tracking project costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
• Oversee the procurement of MEP materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective purchasing.
• Review and approve contractor and vendor bills and manage the work measurement and billing process.

5. Stakeholder Management:

• Act as the primary point of contact for all MEP-related matters with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
• Liaise with government and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary clearances and approvals for MEP services.
• Provide regular progress reports and updates to senior management and other stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education:

  A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering is required. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.

• Technical Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of all MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical (HV & LV), plumbing, fire fighting, and building management systems (BMS).
• Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Strong understanding of national and international building codes, standards, and regulations.
