Position Summary:

The Deputy General Manager - Engineering will provide strategic and operational leadership for Engineering functions across API, Biotech, and Premix manufacturing plants in Kullu - Himachal Pradesh.

The role carries end to-end responsibility for Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities, Automation, and Maintenance activities, ensuring high standards of asset reliability, compliance, safety, and operational excellence across multiple technologies and regulatory environments.

This role will lead and mentor engineering team in Kullu and act as a key member of the site leadership team.

Qualification & Experience:

1) B.Tech / BE in Mechanical.

2) 15+ years of experience in Engineering & Maintenance within API Manufacturing.

3) Minimum 5 years in senior roles managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

4) Strong exposure to biotech, chemical API, and premix manufacturing technologies.

5) Proven experience handling regulatory audits, validations, and large CapEx projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Engineering Leadership & Governance

Head Engineering, Utilities, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation for API, Biotech, and Premix

plants.

Establish common engineering standards, policies, and best practices across all manufacturing units.

Act as the escalation authority for all critical engineering and utility-related issues.

• Maintenance & Asset Reliability

Drive robust preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs to maximize plant uptime.

Oversee maintenance of critical assets including:

Process equipment: SS/MSGL reactors, dryers, centrifuges, blenders, granulators, mills

Utilities: HVAC, compressed air, steam, chilled water, RO/DM/WFI systems

Electrical infrastructure: 33KV substation, DG sets, MCCs, panels, UPS, and power distribution systems

Implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and asset lifecycle management.

• Compliance, Audits & Documentation

Ensure compliance with cGMP, regulatory, statutory, and customer audit requirements across all

plants.

Oversee engineering documentation including SOPs, maintenance records, validation protocols,

change controls, and CAPAs.

Lead engineering support during regulatory inspections and audits.

• Safety, EHS & Statutory Compliance

Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies, electrical safety, biosafety, and statutory regulations.

Drive risk assessments, hazard identification, and contractor safety management.

Promote a strong safety and compliance culture across engineering teams.

• Projects, Capex & Expansion

Lead CapEx planning, budgeting, and execution for new installations, expansions, and modernization

projects.

Coordinate with Corporate Engineering, vendors, consultants, and contractors.

Ensure proper qualification, validation, and compliant handover of new systems.

• Team Leadership & Capability Building

Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, assistant managers, engineers, and technicians.

Build technical capability across Mechanical, Electrical, Utilities, and Automation functions.

Drive performance management, training, and succession planning.

• Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

Drive Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.

Identify opportunities for operational excellence, automation, and digital maintenance systems.

Optimize maintenance costs, spares inventory, and energy consumption.
