Job Description

As a Cook at Four Points by Sheraton, your main responsibility will be to prepare special meals or substitute items and regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. You will also be in charge of pulling food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator, ensuring proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish, and maintaining food logs. It will be your duty to monitor the quality and quantity of food that is prepared and communicate any assistance needed during busy periods. Additionally, you will inform the Chef of excess food items for use in daily specials and notify the Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock menu items. Your role will also involve preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist, as well as preparing cold foods. Apart from your culinary responsibilities, you will also assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees. You are expected to set an example as a role model for the team. Ensuring the adherence to company, safety, and security policies and procedures, reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, and completing safety training and certifications will also be part of your job. Maintaining a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, preserving the confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets are essential aspects of your role. Anticipating and addressing guests" service needs, communicating effectively with others, and developing positive working relationships with team members are vital for success in this position. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree and at least 3 years of related work experience. While supervisory experience is not required, it is a plus. No specific license or certification is necessary for this position.
