Job Title: Dean of Students Location: Ahmedabad Job Type: Full-time | On-Site Department: Student Life & Well-being Reports to: Principal / Head of School Role Summary The Dean of Students is a key leadership figure responsible for nurturing a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment. This role focuses on the emotional well-being, behavioral development, and academic progress of students, aligning with the ethos of international curricula such as IB (International Baccalaureate) and CIE (Cambridge International Education). The Dean will work closely with students, faculty, parents, and senior leadership to promote a culture of empathy, accountability, and holistic student growth. Key Responsibilities Student Well-being & Pastoral Care Design and implement student support systems in line with IB/CIE pastoral care principles. Serve as a central contact for students seeking social, emotional, or academic guidance. Oversee and coordinate counseling, mentorship, and peer support programs. Monitor student attendance, behavior, and overall well-being, providing timely interventions. Foster a nurturing, respectful, and inclusive school culture. Behavior Management & Safeguarding Lead the development and enforcement of the schools behavior management policies. Support educators in managing classroom behavior and student conflict resolution. Ensure full adherence to child protection and safeguarding standards. Conduct regular training for staff on emotional resilience, safeguarding, and well-being best practices. Student Engagement & Leadership Organize student-centered initiatives including wellness workshops, diversity campaigns, and leadership opportunities. Work alongside student councils to incorporate student voice in school life and decision-making. Oversee programs that support student transitions, including induction and buddy systems. Parental & Community Collaboration Act as a liaison between parents, teachers, and students regarding well-being and behavioral concerns. Communicate effectively with families on student development and pastoral matters. Plan and conduct parent workshops on youth development, mental health, and positive discipline. Administrative Oversight & Compliance Maintain confidential records of interventions, progress, and support plans. Ensure pastoral and safeguarding practices meet IB/CIE compliance standards. Monitor academic performance and collaborate with form tutors and homeroom teachers. Provide regular updates and analytical reports to school leadership on student well-being trends. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field. Experience: 5 to 7 years in a pastoral care, student support, or behavioral leadership role, ideally in an IB/CIE school setting. Demonstrated expertise in student behavior management, mental health support, and safeguarding. Skills & Competencies: Deep understanding of international pastoral care standards (IB/CIE). Strong communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills. Leadership experience with the ability to inspire trust and positive student behavior. Knowledge of safeguarding laws and child protection protocols. Collaborative mindset with excellent organizational abilities.
