Data Pipeline Support Engineer

Position Overview:

We are looking for a professional who will provide 24x7 ETL Support for Health Catalyst clients. The Data Pipeline Engineer will participate in an on-call rotation to provide support coverage outside US business hours (6 PM – 8 AM MST). They will monitor ETL jobs, troubleshoot and resolve failures, and proactively prevent future issues.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and resolve ETL job failures using Health Catalyst and client-provided documentation, while also training team members to perform these tasks effectively.
• Develop deep expertise in Health Catalyst’s Data Operating System, including configuring queries and scheduling/executing Data Pipeline jobs.
• Diagnose performance issues in Azure and SQL Server environments and recommend optimization strategies.
• Maintain consistent communication with Health Catalyst colleagues and clients regarding critical ETL-related concerns.
• Manage and resolve support tickets related to ETL failures, ensuring timely updates and resolutions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support, addressing ETL failures and assisting with long-running ETL jobs.

Requirements:

• Proficient in SQL with strong query development and optimization skills
• Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities
• Skilled in database monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning
• Hands-on experience with the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process
• Proficient in tuning Azure and SQL Server queries, including interpreting execution plans
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server indexing strategies, including clustered, non-clustered, and column store indexes
