Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Customs and GST Compliance Specialist with knowledge of Export Oriented Unit (EOU) setup to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Indian Customs and GST regulations, managing import/export activities, optimizing tax strategies, and liaising with Customs House Agents (CHA) and Freight Forwarders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customs Compliance:

    • Manage import/export documentation and ensure accurate tariff classifications.
    • Liaise with customs authorities to resolve any issues and ensure smooth clearance of goods.
    • Monitor changes in customs regulations and update internal processes accordingly.
    • Coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHA) and Freight Forwarders to ensure timely and efficient shipment handling12.
  • EOU Setup Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with EOU regulations as per the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP).
    • Handle documentation and approvals for setting up and maintaining EOU status
    • Manage duty-free imports and domestic procurement under EOU scheme
  • GST Compliance:

    • Prepare and file GST returns accurately and timely, including:
      • Monthly Returns:

        GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-5, GSTR-5A, GSTR-6, GSTR-7, GSTR-8
      • Quarterly Returns:

        CMP-08, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B (under QRMP scheme)
      • Annual Returns:

        GSTR-9, GSTR-9C
    • Handle GST audits and respond to queries from tax authorities
    • Stay updated on GST laws and amendments, and implement necessary changes in the company's processes.
  • Government Incentives Compliance:

    • Manage compliance for various government incentives such as:
      • Export Incentive Schemes:

        Handle compliance for schemes like Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) and Rebate of Duties & Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP)
      • Other Incentives:

        Monitor and comply with any additional incentives announced in the Union Budget or other government policies

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Chartered Accountant /Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Law, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in taxation are a plus.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience in customs and GST compliance, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Certifications:

    GST Practitioner certification, customs broker license, or other relevant credentials.
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of Indian Customs and GST regulations.
    • Strong Leadership Skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using compliance software and tools.
