Key Responsibilities
Psychosocial Assessment & Support
· Conduct psychological assessments and emotional need analysis of children upon admission and periodically thereafter.
· Identify signs of trauma, abuse, neglect, anxiety, depression, or behavioural issues.
· Develop and implement personalized counselling plans based on the child's needs.
Individual and Group Counselling
· Provide regular one-to-one counselling sessions to children.
· Conduct group therapy sessions and activities to improve communication, peer relationships, and coping mechanisms.
Rehabilitation and Mental Health Support
· Support the rehabilitation and reintegration process of children by improving emotional stability and resilience.
· Assist in preparing children for restoration to families, foster care, adoption, or mainstreaming into society.
Coordination with Stakeholders
· Work in close coordination with the Child Welfare Officer, House Parents, Superintendent, CWC, and Mental Health Professionals when required.
· Refer children to external mental health services or specialized care if necessary, with due approval.
Documentation and Reporting
· Maintain confidential counselling records for each child.
· Submit monthly psychological status reports to the Superintendent and DCPU.
· Provide inputs for Individual Care Plans and help in their psychological components.
Capacity Building and Awareness
· Conduct regular orientation sessions for staff and children on mental health, stress management, and child rights.
· Sensitize CCI staff on how to identify and respond to emotional or psychological distress in children.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Child Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (with specialization in Psychiatry or Counselling).
Only female candidate required.
· Desirable: Experience of 2–3 years in working with children in difficult circumstances or in institutional care.
· Trained in child and adolescent counselling, trauma-informed care, and basic psychiatric first aid.
Empathetic, non-judgmental, and skilled in crisis intervention.
