Job Description

As a Corporate Litigation Lawyer in Mumbai within the Legal & Compliance department, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of civil suits, recovery cases, defamation matters, injunctions, and related proceedings. Your role will require courtroom experience, a deep understanding of procedural law, and the ability to provide strategic advice while being actively involved in litigation matters. Your key responsibilities will include managing end-to-end litigation for civil recovery suits, defamation claims, contractual disputes, and other related matters. This involves drafting and finalizing various legal documents such as plaints, written statements, replies, affidavits, and applications. You will also be responsible for preparing evidence, managing court filings, and ensuring procedural compliance across district and high courts. Additionally, you will liaise with clients, witnesses, external counsel, and law enforcement agencies as necessary while tracking all active litigation to ensure timely hearings and submissions. Furthermore, you will be expected to conduct thorough legal research on civil procedure, contract law, criminal law, and case precedents. Your role will involve drafting legal notices, replies, settlement agreements, and other correspondence, focusing on enforceability and clarity. You will also create legal strategy notes for internal stakeholders and management to assist in decision-making processes. As the organization's legal representative, you will appear in civil courts, high courts, NCLT, consumer forums, and quasi-judicial bodies. You will engage in recovery proceedings under civil and commercial law, participate in alternate resolution mechanisms like arbitration and mediation, and provide internal advisory services on civil liabilities, litigation risks, and legal strategies. Moreover, you will assist in maintaining updated litigation trackers, legal dashboards, and audit documentation, while supporting internal teams with legal queries and escalations. To qualify for this role, you should possess an LL.B. from a recognized law school, with an LL.M. considered a plus. You must be licensed to practice law in India, with a mandatory Sanad, and have 5-7 years of litigation experience focusing on civil suits, recovery cases, defamation matters, and contract disputes. Proficiency in legal research tools, strong English language skills, and the ability to work independently on legal drafting are essential requirements. Additionally, you should demonstrate a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously. Experience in working with education, media, or tech clients, exposure to criminal aspects of civil matters, and knowledge of intellectual property, consumer protection, or arbitration will be advantageous in this role.,
