Position Overview

Control-M Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Administration & Maintenance

• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Control-M (Server, Agent, and EM components).
• Manage Control-M environments across development, testing, and production.

• Job Scheduling & Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain batch schedules and job flows.
• Onboard new applications and workloads into Control-M.
• Ensure schedules meet SLAs and optimize execution time.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Proactively monitor batch job performance and address failures.
• Troubleshoot job and environment issues, performing root cause analysis.
• Provide timely incident response and resolution to minimize downtime.

• Integration & Development

• Implement API-based integrations with third-party tools and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Leverage Control-M Automation API and job templates for consistent deployment.

• Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures.
• Ensure adherence to change management, security, and compliance standards.

• Collaboration

• Partner with application owners, DBAs, and platform teams for seamless batch execution.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for Control-M infrastructure.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering

  BMC Control-M

  in large enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Control-M architecture (EM, Server, Agent, Plugins)
• Job scheduling, calendars, and dependencies
• Control-M Workload Automation and Automation API
• Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, or PowerShell for automation.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience integrating Control-M with cloud platforms (AWS Batch, Azure Automation, GCP).
• Knowledge of Control-M MFT (Managed File Transfer) and Control-M for Databases.
• Exposure to DevOps pipelines and CI/CD integration with Control-M.
• Experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).z
• BMC Certified Control-M Administrator or equivalent certification.
