Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Manager

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Management

  • End-to-end ownership of payroll for ~2,500 employees across multiple group companies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries, reimbursements, incentives, and settlements.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, Gratuity, LWF, Bonus Act, etc.).
  • Liaise with finance and statutory authorities for audits, reconciliations, and compliance reporting.
  • Manage payroll software, HRMS, and integrations with time & attendance systems.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Assist the Group HR Head in designing and implementing compensation structures, salary benchmarking, and pay ranges.
  • Support in annual budgeting, salary revisions, and bonus/incentive planning.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of benefits policies (health insurance, mediclaim, leave encashment, retirement benefits) to ensure competitiveness and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide insights and analytics on compensation trends, internal equity, and external competitiveness.
  • Draft and implement C&B policies, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure full adherence to labour laws, tax regulations, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Maintain proper documentation, records, and audit trails for payroll and benefits administration.
  • Manage vendor relationships with payroll service providers, insurance companies, and other benefits partners.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Generate periodic reports on payroll cost, C&B trends, attrition cost analysis, and budget variances.
  • Provide dashboards and insights to the Group HR Head and senior management for decision making.
  • Support MIS preparation for CMD and Board reviews.

Employee Support

  • Address employee queries related to payroll, tax, and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
  • Drive communication campaigns to create awareness of compensation policies and benefits programs.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to resolve payroll and benefits issues smoothly.

Candidate Profile

  • Education:

    MBA/PGDM in HR, Finance, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    7 years

    in payroll and compensation & benefits management, preferably in pharma/manufacturing/large corporate setups.
  • Strong knowledge of

    Indian labour laws, tax compliance, and statutory requirements.

  • Hands-on expertise with

    HRMS/Payroll systems

    (PeopleStrong, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and vendor management capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high ownership and accuracy.
