Job Title: Commi 1 - Cafe Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Commi 1 in our vibrant cafe. As a Commi 1, you will play a crucial role in assisting the chef de partie and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with food production, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate should have a passion for food, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Responsibilities: Assist the chef de partie in the preparation of menu items, ensuring they are cooked, seasoned, and presented according to the cafe's standards. Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation specifications to ensure consistency in food quality and appearance. Prepare and measure ingredients, such as meats, vegetables, and sauces, ensuring they are properly cleaned, trimmed, and ready for cooking. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure the smooth flow of food preparation and timely delivery of orders. Maintain a clean and organized work station, including proper storage of ingredients, utensils, and equipment. Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items. Monitor stock levels of ingredients and inform the chef de partie or supervisor when supplies are running low. Assist with the inspection and maintenance of kitchen equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly. Cooperate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment. Stay updated on new culinary techniques, trends, and industry best practices, continuously improving your culinary skills and knowledge. Requirements: Prior experience working as a Commi 1 or in a similar role in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment. Strong passion for food and a good understanding of culinary techniques and principles. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards. Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively. Effective communication skills, enabling smooth coordination with the kitchen team. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks. Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per the cafe's requirements. Culinary training or a relevant certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
