Job Description

As a Commis Chef (Sushi, Dimsum, Wok), you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen team in delivering high-quality food and maintaining kitchen operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills and grow within a professional kitchen environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and basic cooking under the direction of senior chefs.
  • Ensuring all ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated to maintain freshness.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of your workstation, ensuring it meets health and safety standards.
  • Learning and mastering basic culinary techniques and methods required for the role.
  • Supporting the team in assembling dishes during service, ensuring prompt delivery to customers.
  • Assisting with receiving and unpacking deliveries, checking the quality and quantity of supplies.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils after use and reporting any maintenance needs.
  • Following recipes and instructions accurately to ensure consistency in food preparation.
  • Observing and adhering to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations in the kitchen.
  • Working closely with the kitchen team to maintain smooth operations during busy periods.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • A team player with good communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Preferred Bonus Qualifications:

  • Formal culinary training or a certificate in food handling.
  • Familiarity with Pan-Asian or fine dining cuisines.
  • Passion for cooking and a desire to build a career in the culinary industry.
