Job Title: Commis Chef – Bakery


Job Summary:

As a Commis Chef in a bakery, you assist the senior bakers and pastry chefs in preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts. You’ll support daily operations, maintain hygiene standards, and learn core baking techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Operate bakery equipment (e.g. mixers, ovens, proofers) safely and efficiently
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery area
  • Ensure ingredients and supplies are stocked and rotated properly
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP knowledge is a plus)
  • Learn and develop pastry and baking techniques from senior chefs
  • Assist in decorating cakes or desserts as needed


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
  • Culinary diploma or certification (preferred but not always required)
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Physically fit to work in a standing position for long periods
  • Passion for baking and attention to detail
