GreenCell Mobility is seeking a dedicated Coach Trainer (Driver Trainer) - Road Safety to champion a culture of safety and excellence among our electric bus drivers. This role is critical for ensuring our drivers are equipped with advanced defensive driving techniques, adhere strictly to road safety policies, and maintain optimal vehicle condition, contributing directly to the safety of our passengers and the efficiency of our electric mobility services.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Management:
- Conduct comprehensive training sessions on
Defensive Driving Techniques
. - Provide
Pre-journey & Post-Journey driver counseling
to ensure readiness and review performance. - Enforce and train on
Road Safety Policy
, Accident reporting & Emergency procedures. - Ensure understanding of
Safety within the depot premises & in charging operations
. - Develop and implement
Special interventions for long hour driving and night driving
. - Train drivers on
Basic Safety checks
before embarking on any journey, utilizing a detailed checklist. - Conduct daily
tool box talks & training programs
for drivers.
Vehicle Management:
- Ensure proper
Pre-Charging Vehicle Checks
before bus entry at the depot. - Verify the checking of
legal documents
such as Vehicle fitness, Insurance, etc. - Oversee
reporting of crashes
post vehicle inspection as per defined formats. - Monitor
availability & condition of hardware
(e.g., Seat Belts, Speed Governor, reflective Tapes, Fire extinguisher) as required under CMVR and GreenCell Mobility guidelines, escalating deviations to Operations/Maintenance Manager. - Conduct
Monthly meetings with Depot Manager/Operation Manager/Maintenance Manager
to summarize deviations related to driver and vehicle condition. - Provide timely
feedback to appropriate line managers
on concerns, issues, etc.
Journey Risk Management:
- Ensure
Rest allowances
are adhered to, so drivers get adequate rest before undertaking journeys. - Verify
Routes Familiarity
for drivers before undertaking journeys, including associated risks. - Conduct
One-to-One counseling on driver's behavior
identified through monitoring. - Maintain
Driver's individual violation/activity scorecard
to record number of trips, most common routes, and violations. - Lead
Accident investigation
processes. - Conduct
Mystery follow-ups
(at least one route every month) to assess real-world driving behavior. - Monitor driving behavior against defined rules, including route deviations, over speeding, Harsh Acceleration, Harsh Braking, and other abnormal driving patterns.
- Provide
One-to-one counseling
on completion of each journey.
MIS & Record Keeping:
- Maintain comprehensive
Driver's training record
. - Maintain
Driver's pre-journey & post-journey counseling records
for every driver. - Ensure documentation of
Daily Tool Box Talks with signatures of drivers
. - Keep updated
Route Maps and Risk Assessments
. - Maintain
Bus entry checklists for individual bus fitness & a summary of deviations
. - Manage
Individual driver's scorecard & violation history
. - Prepare
Quarterly Summary of Deviations/Violations
. - Document
Monthly meeting records
with depot management. - Compile a
report with observations and key recommendations
for the Road Safety Committee meeting.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Ability to drive an electric bus safely and efficiently.
- A proven track record of maintaining a safe discipline level among passengers.
- A keen eye to observe and report safety hazards and the need for maintenance and repairs.
- Proficiency in reading and navigating from visual and written maps.
- A strong capacity to learn and apply policies and procedures related to driver discipline.
- Deep understanding and application of legal and defensive driving practices.
- Ability to administer first aid effectively.
- Competence in maintaining routine records.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions precisely.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with drivers and other depot members.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines rigorously.
- Proficiency in operating a two-way radio and other communication equipment.
- Adept at handling situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all personnel at the depot level.
- Readiness to adjust to situations as necessary, demonstrating flexibility.
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate bus drivers.
- Capacity to maintain cooperative relationships with all contacts in the course of work.
- Experience in relicensing bus drivers when certificates/documents expire.
- Proven ability to schedule and conduct effective instruction and behind-the-wheel training programs for bus drivers.
- Experience in scheduling and conducting mystery follow-ups for bus drivers.
