Role overview:
We re hiring hands-on Cloud Operations Engineers for our 24/7, work-from-office Operations Centre to support both infrastructure and basic-to-medium application layers.
You will monitor and operate production systems, own incident triage and recovery, and collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to maintain service health and stability.
The role requires strong infrastructure management skills with the ability to perform application-level health checks and validations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Production Operations:
- Monitor application and infrastructure workloads using APM tools and CloudWatch.
- Triage alerts, investigate logs, perform first/second-line fixes, and escalate to L3 as per runbooks.
- Application Support:
- Perform basic to medium-level checks for application health, jobs, and data flow.
- Validate API endpoints, configurations, and user permissions.
- Assist in debugging issues in Redis, PostgreSQL, and Apache Solr layers.
- AWS Operations:
- Operate workloads across EC2, ECS, RDS Aurora, Elasticache, CloudFront, and CloudWatch.
- Perform standard infrastructure changes through change control.
- Support DR/backups and environment maintenance.
- IaC & Pipelines:
- Work with Terraform or AWS CDK to manage infrastructure as code.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using Git and GitHub, with exposure to GitOps tools such as Argo CD or OneCD.
- Containers & Scaling:
- Operate Docker containers on ECS or EKS and verify autoscaling behavior.
- Observability & Monitoring:
- Build and maintain dashboards in CloudWatch or AppSignal.
- Fine-tune alert thresholds and ensure alert-to-runbook linkage.
- Incident Management:
- Lead or support incident bridges, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to post-incident reports.
- Security & Compliance:
- Apply least-privilege IAM principles and ensure secure handling of credentials, keys, and secrets.
- Documentation:
- Keep KBs and runbooks up to date; support structured shift handovers.
Essential skills & experience
- Experience: 3 6 years of hands-on experience in Cloud Operations, SRE, DevOps, or Application Support for production or SaaS environments.
- Cloud Expertise: Strong working knowledge of core AWS services EC2, ECS, RDS Aurora, Elasticache, CloudFront, and CloudWatch, including provisioning, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Monitoring & Logging: Proficiency with CloudWatch Logs, metrics, and APM tools (AppSignal, Datadog, or New Relic). Experience in log-based analysis, alert tuning, and dashboard creation.
- Infrastructure-as-Code: Practical experience using Terraform or AWS CDK for infrastructure changes and automation.
- Database & Caching: Working knowledge of PostgreSQL (schema checks, slow query insights) and Redis (key management, connection validation).
- Application Layer: Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, and debugging techniques at service interaction level.
- Containerization: Hands-on experience with Docker and orchestration on ECS/EKS including understanding of scaling policies and health checks.
- Scripting & Automation: Competent in Bash or Python scripting for automation and operational tasks.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with Git, GitHub, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps for managing code and deployment pipelines.
- Operating Systems: Strong Linux administration skills (file systems, services, permissions, cron jobs, certificates).
- Incident Management: Solid understanding of ITIL-based processes (incident, change, problem) and ability to handle high-severity production incidents.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills to work effectively with global teams.
- Shift Readiness: Comfortable working in rotational 24/7 shifts from office including weekends and night shifts.
Additional information
- This role is for 24/7 Operations Centre, work-from-office position with rotational shifts (including nights/weekends) and structured handovers. Cab transport will be provided for all shifts with shift allowance.
