Civil Estimation Engineer

A construction estimator calculates the cost of materials, labor, and equipment for building projects to prepare bids. Key responsibilities include reviewing blueprints and project scopes, performing cost analysis, managing vendor bids, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors. The goal is to provide accurate estimates that enable strategic planning, secure profitable projects, and control costs.

Core responsibilities

· Cost analysis: Compute the total cost of a project by calculating the expenses for labor, materials, equipment, and other factors.

· Bid preparation: Prepare detailed cost estimates and bids for new and existing projects.

· Scope and plan review: Thoroughly analyze project blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the full scope of work.

· Vendor and subcontractor management: Communicate with and manage bid pricing from vendors and subcontractors.

· Documentation: Prepare and present cost analysis reports and proposals to stakeholders and clients.

· Relationship building: Establish and maintain professional relationships with vendors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.

Key skills and qualifications

· Analytical and numerical skills:

Strong ability to work with numbers, perform calculations, and analyze data.

· Technical knowledge:

Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding construction processes and methodologies.

Expertise in using estimating software and spreadsheets.
