Chief Technology Officer

Job Title: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mission: Operationalize and scale the advanced AI capabilities developed by BIG's CAIO team across secure, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud platforms. Ensure every customer experience uses state-of-the-art language AI with high availability, enterprise-grade security, and rapid delivery cycles. Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Works alongside the CAIO. Oversees approximately 70 employees across platform engineering, DevSecOps, SRE, and enterprise IT. Manages a 25 million USD annual budget. Strategic Pillars and Key Outcomes (First 12 Months): 1. AI Operationalization and MLOps: - Integrate CAIO Gen3 models into production services - Automate CI/CD and model rollback - Target less than 10-minute MTTR and fewer than 0.1 percent model-related incidents 2. Unified Language Platform: - Complete migration to Azure or GKE - Target five times throughput and 30 percent cost reduction 3. Telephony and Multilingual Customer Experience: - Finalize Genesys and Twilio rollout - Target less than 200 milliseconds round-trip time and 50 percent faster three-way connects 4. Security and Compliance: - Achieve zero priority one incidents - Renew HITRUST, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and PCI voice certifications 5. Financial and Vendor Management: - Reduce cloud cost per translated word by 25 percent - Renegotiate top five vendor contracts Core Responsibilities: - Design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure across Azure, AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes - Manage model registry, performance monitoring, and deployment pipelines - Ensure responsible AI standards are enforced - Promote API-first and event-driven development practices - Implement CI/CD, QA automation, and infrastructure as code - Lead security, access control, and disaster recovery practices - Manage technology budgets and vendor relationships - Hire and develop top engineering talent - Collaborate with CAIO, Product, and Customer Success teams - Represent company in client technical meetings and industry events Authority: - Final decision-making on architecture, security posture, and technology expenditures - Full hiring and termination authority for technical teams Qualifications: - Over 15 years in SaaS engineering leadership roles - Over 10 years in executive positions with P and L responsibility - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability tools, and infrastructure automation - In-depth knowledge of compliance frameworks such as HITRUST, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS - Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field; MBA preferred Why This Role Matters: BIG's AI innovations must be delivered quickly, securely, and at scale.
