Job Description

As a Chief Governance Officer (CGO), you will be responsible for leading the organization's governance framework, ethical standards, compliance, and institutional integrity. Your role will involve working closely with the Board, senior leadership, and regulators to ensure transparency, accountability, and long-term credibility while enabling responsible growth. Key Responsibilities: - Design and oversee the overall governance framework of the organization - Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and ethical standards - Act as the principal advisor to the Board and senior leadership on governance matters - Oversee ethics, integrity, and fair play mechanisms - Supervise compliance, audit, and governance research functions - Lead policy development, SOPs, and governance documentation - Oversee risk management and internal control frameworks - Manage investigations, disciplinary processes, and dispute resolution - Ensure transparency in decision-making and reporting - Represent the organization with regulators, federations, and oversight bodies Required Qualifications: - 10+ years of experience in governance, compliance, law, or institutional leadership - Deep understanding of corporate governance, ethics, and regulatory frameworks - Experience working with Boards, regulators, and senior stakeholders - Proven ability to manage sensitive matters with neutrality and confidentiality - Strong leadership, judgment, and decision-making skills - Excellent documentation and communication abilities Preferred Qualifications: - Background in Law, Company Secretary (CS), Compliance, or Public Policy - Experience in sports federations, esports governance, or regulated sectors - Prior role as Chief Compliance Officer, Governance Head, or similar - Experience handling investigations and disciplinary systems - Exposure to international governance standards What We Offer: - Competitive executive compensation - Board-facing leadership role with high trust - Opportunity to build governance frameworks from the ground up - Long-term institutional impact and credibility building - Senior leadership growth and influence Please note that the job is full-time and the work location is in Kolkata, West Bengal.
