Job Description

the Chief Engineer in a hotel serves as the strategic leader of the engineering and maintenance department, primarily responsible for protecting the owner's assets, ensuring guest safety, and maintaining the physical integrity of the building. Core Responsibilities

  • Operational Maintenance: Oversees day-to-day repairs and maintenance for all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Develops and implements robust PM programs for guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensures the hotel meets all health, fire, and safety codes. This includes regular testing of fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency lighting, as well as managing OSHA compliance.
  • Financial Management: Prepares and manages the annual engineering budget, oversees capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, and monitors utility consumption to drive energy efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Recruits, trains, and mentors a team of technicians and mechanics. They also coordinate with other department heads (Housekeeping, F&B) to address maintenance issues without disrupting the guest experience.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Manages energy and water conservation programs and may lead efforts for certifications such as LEED or Earth Check.

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is often required for large-scale or luxury properties, though some hotels accept technical certifications or a 2-year degree with significant experience.
  • Experience: Typically requires 5–10+ years in hotel engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of building systems, including boilers, chillers, elevators, and water treatment plants.
  • Certifications: Often requires specialized licenses, such as a Stationary Engineer license, HVAC certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹48,000.00 per month
