Role Overview

The GSP Engineering Buyer is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and supplier management to ensure timely availability of materials and components at optimal cost, quality, and reliability. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, procurement, and cross-functional teams to support new product development and ongoing operations.

Role & responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement

• Understand sourcing requirements and obtain quotes for materials, components, equipment, and services.
• Procure items at the lowest cost while ensuring quality, reliability, and urgency.
• Issue RFQs, analyze proposals, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and manage purchase orders.

Supplier Management

• Recommend new suppliers and evaluate make vs. buy opportunities.
• Negotiate vendor contracts and maintain compliance with standard purchasing processes.
• Work with global suppliers and manage dual sourcing strategies.

Material Planning & Risk Management

• Expedite and ensure timely receipt of materials.
• Maintain supply planning levels and perform risk analysis to minimize supply chain disruptions..

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with Engineering Material Project Managers, Procurement Managers, and CBM.
• Assist in developing process and system documentation for purchasing..

Cost & Process Optimization

• Provide feedback to engineering for cost reduction initiatives.
• Develop and recommend methods for business simplification in procurement.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong experience in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
• Ability to drive projects and deliver on time.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced Excel required).
• Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Ariba) and procure-to-pay processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods, commodities, and cost structures.
• Ability to interpret BOMs and engineering drawings.
