Role Overview

Business Development Manager – Formulation Development

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in formulation development, tech transfer, scale-up, and related services.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech, and generic drug companies.
• Prepare and deliver proposals, quotations, and presentations to prospective clients.
• Collaborate with formulation development, analytical, and regulatory teams to align technical capabilities with client needs.
• Manage the entire business development cycle – lead generation, qualification, negotiation, and contract closure.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, networking forums, and client meetings.
• Track market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to inform business strategies.
• Build and manage a sustainable pipeline of opportunities, ensuring quarterly/annual revenue targets are achieved.
• Serve as a liaison between clients and technical teams to ensure project scope, timelines, and deliverables are aligned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related life sciences.
• MBA in Marketing/Business Development (preferred but not mandatory).
• 5–10 years of experience in 

  Business Development / Sales in pharmaceutical formulation development / CDMO / CRO

• Strong understanding of formulation R&D, scale-up, and tech transfer processes.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and building client networks.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Strong business acumen and market knowledge in pharmaceutical services.
• Ability to engage with senior decision-makers in pharma/biotech companies.
• Proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to travel within India and overseas, as required.
