Orbit Pharmaceuticals is a rapidly expanding, privately owned pharmaceutical company focused on the development and marketing of high-quality specialist generic medicines across global markets. Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Director to lead our CDMO division. Based in Ahmedabad, this role will be pivotal in managing day-to-day operations of our CDMO business while driving aggressive expansion into the Indian market and key overseas regions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in pharmaceutical business development, with a focus on forging partnerships, optimizing operations, and scaling revenue in competitive global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Business Management

    : Oversee the entire CDMO portfolio, including formulation development, analytical services, regulatory filings, and manufacturing scalability. Develop and execute business strategies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

  • Market Expansion

    : Identify and pursue growth opportunities in India and international markets (e.g., Europe, US, and emerging economies). Lead initiatives for new client acquisitions, joint ventures, and market entry strategies to expand Orbit Pharma's global footprint.

  • Client Relationship Management

    : Build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical clients, from startups to multinational corporations. Negotiate contracts, manage project timelines, and ensure high levels of client satisfaction to secure repeat business and referrals.

  • Revenue Growth and Financial Oversight

    : Drive revenue targets through upselling CDMO services, optimizing pricing models, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as client retention, project margins, and market share.

  • Team Leadership

    : Mentor and lead a cross-functional team of R&D scientists, regulatory experts, manufacturing specialists, and sales professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, compliance, and excellence.

  • Regulatory and Compliance

    : Ensure all CDMO activities comply with global standards (e.g., ICH, FDA, EMA). Collaborate with internal teams to prepare dossiers (e-CTD, CTD, ACTD) and support regulatory submissions.

  • Market Intelligence and Innovation

    : Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements in CDMO. Recommend innovations in supply chain, AI-driven analytics, and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education

    : Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.

  • Experience

    : Minimum 10+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in CDMO business development or management. Proven success in expanding operations in India and overseas markets.

  • Skills

    :
    • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in sales, marketing, and P&L management.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, CDMO processes, and global supply chains.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Travel

    : Willingness to travel frequently (30-50%) domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in generic medicines, sterile injectables, or complex formulations.
  • Existing network in pharma hubs like Europe, US, and Asia.
  • Certification in project management (PMP) or regulatory affairs.
