Boiler Operator

Role Description:

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of boilers and associated systems to ensure continuous and safe steam generation in compliance with statutory and safety regulations.

• Operate, monitor, start, and shut down boilers as per SOPs
• Maintain safe boiler pressure, temperature, water level, and steam flow
• Ensure proper fuel handling and efficient combustion
• Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance activities
• Maintain correct boiler water chemistry, blowdown, and feedwater treatment
• Identify faults, abnormalities, and take immediate corrective action
• Maintain daily logbooks, checklists, and statutory records
• Coordinate and work with maintenance teams during breakdowns and shutdowns
• Ensure strict adherence to safety rules, PPE usage, and emergency procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in boiler area
• Ensure compliance with

  Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR)

  and Factory safety standards
• Support energy audits, inspection teams, and boiler licensing renewals.
• Respond promptly to system alarms and emergencies, taking corrective action as per SOPs

Desired profile of the candidate:

• Mandatory: 2nd Class Boiler Attendant Certificate as per the Boiler Operation Rules.
• Experience: Minimum 3+ relevant experience in wood coal fired boilers.
• Strong knowledge of boiler controls, instrumentation, and emergency protocol
• Sound knowledge of boiler operation, steam generation process, and auxiliary systems
• Good understanding of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Understanding of boiler mountings, accessories, and control panels
• Knowledge of water treatment and boiler efficiency
• Ability to read pressure gauges, safety valves, and control instruments
• Ability to work in shifts

Education qualification:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent
• Valid Boiler Operator / Boiler Attendant License issued by State Boiler Department Mandatory
• Minimum 02 years experience in operating industrial boilers
