Description
As a Boiler Operator at our company, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring boiler systems to ensure they function safely and efficiently. Your key responsibilities will include: - Adjusting controls to generate specified amounts of steam or heat. - Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts to ensure proper operation. - Conducting routine checks and inspections of boilers and auxiliary equipment. - Performing routine maintenance on boilers and related equipment. - Troubleshooting and repairing boiler systems to address malfunctions or breakdowns. - Cleaning and lubricating parts as needed. - Replacing or repairing valves, gauges, feedwater lines, and other boiler components. - Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. - Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding boiler operation. - Keeping accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and operational logs. - Conducting safety checks and inspections. - Optimizing boiler efficiency and performance through regular maintenance and adjustments. - Monitoring fuel consumption and adjusting controls to ensure efficient fuel usage. - Implementing energy-saving measures and identifying opportunities for improving system performance. - Responding promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages, system failures, or safety hazards. - Implementing emergency shutdown procedures if necessary. - Coordinating with other departments and personnel during emergencies to ensure safety and minimize downtime. Qualifications: - Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in boiler operation is preferred. - Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating and maintaining boilers or similar equipment. - Licensure/Certification: Boiler Operator license or certification as required by local regulations. Skills: - Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. - Knowledge of boiler systems, controls, and safety protocols. - Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. - Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls. - Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
