Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting:Developing and maintaining detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and other expenses.
  • Billing and Invoicing:Preparing and submitting accurate invoices to clients based on project milestones and deliverables.
  • Invoice Verification:Reviewing and verifying contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Payment Processing:Ensuring timely and accurate payment processing for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Record Keeping:Maintaining detailed records of all billing-related transactions, including invoices, payments, and adjustments.
  • Financial Reporting:Assisting in the preparation of financial reports related to project costs and billing.
  • Project Monitoring:Tracking project expenses and comparing them to the budget, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collaboration:Working closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather necessary information for billing purposes.
  • Compliance:Ensuring all billing activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction industry billing practices: Knowledge of BOQ (Bill of Quantities), RA bills (Running Account bills), and other relevant documentation.
  • Proficiency in financial software and project management tools: Including experience with Excel, SAP, or other relevant software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills: To identify and resolve billing discrepancies and manage project costs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: To effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail: To ensure accuracy in billing and record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience in billing and invoicing processes, particularly within the construction industry, is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of relevant IS Codes (Indian Standard Codes), such as IS 1200 for mode of measurement, is beneficial.

Career Progression:

  • Billing Engineers can advance to roles such as Project Manager, Cost Engineer, or Construction Manager.
  • Additional certifications in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management can further enhance career opportunities.
