Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities in freight forwarding. The role involves driving sales, building strong relationships with clients, and achieving revenue targets. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of logistics, shipping, and supply chain management.

1. Sales & Business Development :

  • Identify and target potential customers to generate new business opportunities in freight forwarding.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor activities, and industry trends.
  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, referrals, and digital platforms.

2. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure long-term business growth.
  • Provide customized logistics solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Handle customer queries, negotiate contracts, and ensure customer satisfaction.

3. Freight Operations & Coordination :

  • Work closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, and transport partners for cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and address any issues proactively.

4. Contract Negotiation & Pricing :

  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers and offer competitive pricing to clients.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and service agreements.
  • Ensure profitability while maintaining competitive market pricing.

5. Reporting & Performance Monitoring :

  • Track and analyze sales performance, pipeline, and revenue trends.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports on business development activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for business growth strategies.
