As a Backup Engineer, your role involves designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting data backup and recovery systems to ensure business continuity. You will focus on data integrity, availability, and security across both on-premises and cloud environments using tools like Veeam, NetBackup, or Commvault. Your daily tasks will include monitoring backups, conducting regular testing, participating in disaster recovery drills, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with other IT teams to ensure a cohesive approach. Key Responsibilities: - Design & Implementation: Develop, install, and configure backup/recovery solutions, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and disaster recovery plans. - Operations & Monitoring: Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, ensure data integrity, manage storage capacity, and apply patches/upgrades. - Disaster Recovery: Perform regular DR drills and data restoration tests to validate recovery procedures (RTOs/RPOs). - Support & Collaboration: Provide 2nd/3rd level support, collaborate with Dev/DBA/SysAdmin teams, and handle incident tickets. - Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed documentation, adhere to data protection regulations, and generate audit reports. - Automation: Automate manual tasks and improve processes for efficiency. Key Skills & Qualifications: - Experience: 3+ years in backup/storage, with hands-on experience in large-scale environments. - Tools: Expertise in Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC Avamar/Data Protection Suite, etc. - Technologies: Strong understanding of storage (SAN/NAS), virtualization (VMware), networking, and multi-OS platforms (Windows, Linux). - Soft Skills: Problem-solving, analytical skills, attention to detail, strong communication, and teamwork. - Education: Bachelor's in IT or related field. Please note that the job is open for Tamil candidates only. This is a full-time, permanent position with the possibility of being on-call for critical issues. The work location is in person.
