About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and visionary technology leader to oversee our core Java-based product engineering teams. This role is critical in translating business strategy into a robust, scalable, and innovative technology roadmap. The position is 60% strategic leadership & business alignment, 30% organizational leadership, and 10% hands-on architectural guidance. You will be responsible for the people, processes, and platforms that form the backbone of our hospitality product suite.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment (50%)

  • Technology Vision:

    Define and own the multi-year technology strategy and roadmap for your product portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives in the hospitality sector.
  • P&L & Budget Management:

    Own the operational and capital expenditure budget for the engineering division, making strategic decisions on resource allocation, tooling, and vendor partnerships.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    Act as the key technology partner for C-level executives, Product Management, Sales, and Marketing to drive product strategy, investment decisions, and go-to-market plans.
  • Industry Expertise:

    Help CTO in the hospitality landscape (e.g., integrations with PMS, CRS, GDS, Payment Gateways) to guide the development of competitive and compliant solutions.

Organizational & People Leadership (40%)

  • Team Building & Scaling:

    Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing organization of 30-50+ engineers, including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Senior Developers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Talent Strategy:

    Own the talent acquisition and retention strategy for your division. Ensure we attract and retain top-tier engineering talent capable of building world-class hospitality products.
  • Performance & Development:

    Implement a robust performance management system, coaching senior leads and managers to elevate their leadership capabilities and drive team excellence.
  • Process Excellence:

    Champion Agile/Scrum at scale, optimizing delivery processes across multiple teams to improve predictability, velocity, and quality.

Technical & Architectural Oversight (10%)

  • Architecture Governance:

    Provide ultimate oversight on architectural decisions, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective, meeting the 24/7 demands of the global hospitality industry.
  • Technical Debt & Innovation:

    Balance the roadmap by strategically managing technical debt and championing the adoption of modern technologies (e.g., cloud-native, microservices, AI/ML) through targeted POCs and architectural spikes.
  • Quality & Security:

    Instill a "shift-left" culture of quality and security, ensuring that the platforms adhere to the highest standards of data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and reliability.

What We Expect You to Bring

  • Leadership Experience: 15+ years of total experience with a minimum of 8+ years in progressive technology leadership roles (Manager of Managers, Director, or equivalent) within a product-based company, ideally in the Hospitality, Travel, or related SaaS industries.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of the Java ecosystem (Spring Boot, Microservices, Hibernate/JPA), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and modern DevOps practices. The ability to dive deep into technical details when necessary.
  • Business Acumen: Proven experience in owning budgets, contributing to business strategy, and understanding P&L levers. Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hospitality Industry Knowledge (Highly Preferred): Familiarity with hospitality systems and standards such as Property Management Systems (PMS), Central Reservations Systems (CRS), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), or PCI-DSS compliance in a travel context.
  • Execution Excellence: A track record of successfully delivering complex, large-scale software products using Agile methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
