Role & responsibilities Ensure achievement of GPW and various GAAP metrics through the team Budgeting - P&L BPR cost effective, ease of transaction for stakeholders Set directions & drive distribution channels Monitor business performance and intervene as and when required Seeking market feedback for product/ process improvement Plan for long term scale and profitability through digital interventions Portfolio Management Portfolio analysis - Review & make course corrections if necessary Actively manage the Portfolio and correct course whenever required Ensure Portfolio analysis is conducted on a regular basis and the same is also shared with the field Weed out unprofitable segments and grow the profitable ones Regularly monitor treaty performance and optimize usage of the same Team Management & Development Team management - role definition, deployment & development Frequent interactions at both formal and informal levels Understand and appreciate their expectations and weave it into the overall plans of the Company Assessment of skill set required in the team Ensure clarity of goals & expectations Performance tracking & corrective measures Feedback sharing Identification of high potential employees in the team Look first at an internal option for any larger roles within the team/ within the company Ensure adequate staffing in all key locations so that agreed TAT levels are maintained To train and develop the team in prudent underwriting Audit and Compliance Completing self Audits as per schedule Maintaining full compliance for other Audits like Technical Audits, Regional Ensuring timelines are met for other requirements Legal / Regulatory IRDA coordination on product filing and UW At the time of filing of any New product work with the PC team in preparation of the required documentation for filing To work with the PC team in responding to IRDA queries Underwriting discipline Lay out sustainable underwriting practices, guidelines and ensure adherence through monitoring and audits To develop India specific UW strategy To review the same on regular basis based on results To keep the UW team informed of market developments To educate and train the UW and distribution team on UW
