Head of Automation Network Security & Engineering

Position Overview:

We are seeking a visionary leader to drive automation initiatives across our Network Security and

Engineering functions. This role will focus on designing and implementing automation strategies

that enhance security posture, improve operational efficiency, and enable scalability. The ideal

candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills to guide teams in

adopting modern automation frameworks and practice

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership
• Define and execute the automation roadmap for Network Security and

Engineering.

• Align automation initiatives with organizational security and compliance

objectives.

• Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Automation Development & Integration
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions for

network configuration, monitoring, and incident response.

• Integrate automation tools with existing security platforms (e.g., SIEM, firewalls,

IDS/IPS).

• Ensure interoperability between automation systems and cloud/on-prem

infrastructure

Team Management

• Build and mentor a high-performing automation team.
• Collaborate with Network Engineers, Security Analysts, and DevOps teams to

identify automation opportunities.

• Provide technical guidance and career development support.
• Governance & Compliance
• Establish standards and best practices for secure automation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of automated processes.
• Performance & Reporting
• Define KPIs to measure automation impact on security and operational efficiency.
• Report progress and outcomes to senior leadership.

Performance & Success Metrics:

Success in this role will be measured by:

• Automation Coverage: Percentage of network security and engineering processes

automated within the first 12–18 months; reduction in manual intervention for routine

tasks.

• Incident Response Efficiency: Reduction in Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean

Time to Respond (MTTR) through automated workflows; number of incidents resolved

using automated playbooks.

• Operational Cost Savings: Quantifiable reduction in operational costs and ROI achieved

from automation investments.

• Compliance & Risk Reduction: Percentage of automated processes compliant with

regulatory and internal security standards; reduction in audit findings related to manual

errors.

• Innovation & Adoption: Number of new automation solutions deployed per quarter;

adoption rate of automation tools across teams.

• Team Development: Employee engagement and skill development in automation

technologies; retention and growth of automation talent.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in network security, network engineering, and automation

frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of:
• Scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
• Security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker,

Kubernetes).

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and drive organizational change.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Zero Trust architectures and secure DevOps practices.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or Certified Automation Professional.
• Background in AI/ML-driven security automation is a plus.
