ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Associate IS Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. Youll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgens Applied AI & Automation Footprint.
The Associate IS Engineer role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end Intelligent automation solutions that meet business needs. This role collaborates with architects, testers, engineers and business analysts to build high-quality, scalable and best-in-class automated solutions using leading technologies. The engineer should possess knowledge of system architecture, effective problem-solving skills, and the capability to communicate technical concepts clearly, supporting the delivery of robust and scalable automations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy automation workflows using UiPath, SAP Build Process Automation (SAP BPA), or Power Automate, depending on system context and integration needs.
- Integrate LLMs and AI services into automation pipelines for intelligent document processing, contextual decision-making, summarization, chat-based interfaces, and GenAI-enhanced user workflows.
- Develop prompt frameworks, API connectors, and modular AI building blocks using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Work with Cross-Functional product teams and Business Process Owners to ensure automation aligns with digital product strategy.
- Ensure Agile methodologies are strictly adhered to, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery of value.
- Effective product demonstrations for internal and external collaborators.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and other testing strategies to ensure the quality of the software
- Create and maintain documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations
- Identify and resolve technical challenges effectively
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for applications, ensuring that they operate smoothly and efficiently
Basic Qualifications and Experience:

- Any degree and 2 to 5 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
- Experience with low-code/no-code technology software development like UiPath, Power Automate, SAP BPA
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript preferred or other programming languages
- Knowledge of using Agile Methodologies to implement solutions
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms and frameworks
- Good understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of agentic AI or agent-based automations
- Familiarity with GxP and systems validation
- Ability to analyze client requirements and translate them into solutions
