Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation Design Engineer – Panel Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing industrial automation control systems, including electrical schematics, panel layouts, and integration of components. You will work closely with project managers, controls engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective designs that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design electrical control panels (power and control circuits) for automation systems using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent tools.
• Create and modify detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
• Select appropriate electrical components such as PLCs, relays, HMIs, breakers, and motor controllers.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for panel builds.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., UL 508A, IEC, NEC).
• Support the build and testing of control panels; provide troubleshooting and technical support as needed.
• Participate in design reviews and provide engineering support during commissioning and startup phases.
• Maintain design documentation and revision control according to company processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience in control panel design and automation engineering.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI hardware - Siemens.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
• Understanding of safety circuits and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, SIL).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in control panel manufacturing or shop floor support.
• Knowledge of CE marking and international electrical standards.
• Exposure to automation programming (PLC/HMI/SCADA) is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Office and workshop environment.
• Occasional travel to customer sites for project meetings or support.
