As Support Technician, you provide firstline technical assistance and support for queries and issues related to the Database. This role involves troubleshooting, resolving technical problems, configuration and manage the database
- Provide frontline support for SQL databases, application configuration files, and Azure infrastructure.
- Ensure availability, performance, security and compliance across supported Databases.
- Monitor alerts and tickets (ServiceNow/Jira) for SQL/Azure/app configuration issues.
- Support Azure SQL Database and/ or SQL Server instances connectivity, failover, DTU/vCore sizing basics, firewall rules, auditing, threat detection.
- Monitor health using SSMS, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics , and builtin metrics; respond to deadlocks, blocking, and slow queries.
- Maintain and validate application config files (JSON, YAML, XML, INI, web.config/appsettings.json)
- Perform Implement environmentspecific settings; manage secrets through Key Vault or equivalent
- Provision and support Azure resources VMs, Azure SQL Database, Storage, App Services, VNets/NSGs, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, Key Vault
- Perform patching, certificate management (TLS), and basic networking (DNS, IP, ports).
- Set up alerts, dashboards, and runbooks for operational tasks.
- Assist with deployments via Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions; troubleshoot build and release pipelines.
- Maintain documentation runbooks, known issues, topology diagrams, standards.
Meet SLAs for response and resolution; track metrics and report status.
Mandatory skill sets
Azure SQL Database Support
- Execute routine database tasks backups, restores, user provisioning, role management, and basic performance checks.
- Run and optimize basic queries; assist with index maintece and statistics updates under guidance.
- Support Azure SQL Database and/or SQL Server instances connectivity, failover, DTU/vCore sizing basics, firewall rules, auditing, threat detection.
- Monitor health using SSMS, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, and builtin metrics; respond to deadlocks, blocking, and slow queries per runbook.
Configuration File Management
- Maintain and validate application config files (JSON, YAML, XML, INI, web.config/appsettings.json).
- Implement environmentspecific settings; manage secrets through Key Vault or equivalent (no secrets in source control).
- Use version control (Git) and CI/CD to track changes, reviews, and deployments.
- Apply linting/validation tools; ensure rollback and change approval processes are followed.
