Job Title: Assistant Purchase Officer (Civil Engineering Background) Location: Site – Chhattisgarh, HO Chennai Job Type: Full-Time Experience Required: 3–4 years in construction or infrastructure procurement Educational Qualification: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Officer with a civil engineering background to support our procurement activities at a multi-storied building construction site. The ideal candidate will assist in sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and purchasing construction materials, tools, and services, ensuring timely availability and adherence to project specifications and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: · Assist the Purchase Manager in sourcing materials and services related to civil construction projects. · Evaluate vendors and obtain competitive quotations from approved suppliers. · Review technical specifications, material submittals, and ensure compliance with project requirements. · Track material inventory levels and coordinate timely procurement to prevent project delays. · Maintain purchase records, delivery schedules, and quality documentation. · Support negotiation of price, delivery terms, and payment conditions with suppliers. · Conduct site visits and inspections to verify delivery quality and quantity. · Coordinate with site engineers, storekeepers, and accounts team for efficient procurement and billing cycle. · Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and local regulations. · Prepare and maintain vendor performance records. Required Skills & Competencies: · Strong understanding of civil construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, MEP items, etc.). · Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOQs. · Knowledge of procurement and inventory software (e.g., MS Excel, ERP systems). · Good negotiation and vendor management skills. · Excellent communication and documentation skills. · Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. · Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills. Preferred Skills: · Experience with Mivan Form work/Aluminium Shuttering procurement is an added advantage. · Familiarity with local and regional supplier base. · Basic understanding of logistics and transportation coordination.
