Assistant Marine Service Manager

Position Summary:

The Assistant Marine Service Manager plays a critical support role in overseeing the daily operations of the marine service department. This position assists in coordinating repair and maintenance activities, supervising technicians, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and upholding high standards of customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of marine systems, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Marine Service Manager in planning, scheduling, and overseeing service and repair activities for marine vessels
• Supervise and guide technicians to ensure timely and quality service delivery
• Monitor work orders, parts inventory, and job progress to optimize efficiency
• Assist with customer communications, providing updates and ensuring satisfaction
• Help manage budgets, invoices, and cost estimates
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with marine safety and environmental regulations
• Coordinate vendor relationships and assist in parts sourcing as needed
• Maintain accurate service records, technician logs, and maintenance histories
• Identify and recommend process improvements for workflow, scheduling, and customer service
• Step into leadership duties in the absence of the Service Manager

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in marine maintenance, repair, or a related technical service environment
• BE mechanical engineer, Marine Engineer
• Proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role preferred
• Strong understanding of marine mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced service environment
• Proficient in service management software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of applicable marine safety and environmental regulations
