Description
Role & responsibilities Lead and manage daily operations of the fabrication shop, including welding, cutting, forming, and assembly. Plan and schedule work orders to meet project deadlines and customer requirements. Supervise and coordinate the activities of fabricators, welders, fitters, and other technical staff. Monitor productivity, quality, and material usage to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO, AWS). Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications; provide guidance to team members. Implement continuous improvement initiatives in fabrication processes, tools, and techniques. Manage inventory of raw materials and coordinate with procurement and logistics. Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets required standards. Train and develop team members, promote cross-functional skills, and maintain a positive work environment. Collaborate with Engineering, QA/QC, and Project Management teams to resolve technical or production issues. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience). 7+ years of experience in metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of fabrication methods including MIG/TIG welding, Robotic welding, plasma/laser cutting, CNC operations, forming, and assembly. Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO). Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication drawings and engineering documents. Proficient in production planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality control, and team development.
