Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning protocols for C&I systems, including interlock and protection logic testing, earthing systems, and startup procedures.
  • Conduct logic verification of equipment interlocks and protections by simulating process scenarios to ensure system reliability.
  • Perform Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of Distributed Control System (DCS) servers, applications, hardware, networks, process graphics, and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  • Ensure proper cabling and wiring of C&I systems through cable megger tests, loop testing, ferruling, tagging, glanding, and routing.
  • Test and validate control panel wiring and hardwired protections in alignment with technical drawings and control philosophies.
  • Oversee the implementation of plant fail-safe conditions, including Boiler Master Fuel Trip and Turbine Emergency Tripping systems.
  • Verify and test auto loop configurations, run-back logic, and Free Governor Mode of Operation (FGMO) logic for operational efficiency.
  • Ensure robust alarm systems and triggering mechanisms for early detection of equipment failures and process disturbances.
  • Verify power distribution and redundancy of C&I systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including datasheets, technical specifications, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, OEM manuals, SOPs, P&IDs, logic diagrams, termination drawings, and control philosophies.
  • Prepare C&I spares lists, project leftover materials, and tools for operational readiness.
  • Configure and calibrate instrumentation, analyzers, control valves, positioners, coal feeders, and belt weighments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures during the commissioning phase.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in commissioning, testing, and maintenance of C&I systems in thermal power plants.
  • Proven expertise in configuring and calibrating instrumentation, analyzers, and control systems.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced certifications in control systems or instrumentation engineering are preferred.

Years & Type Of Experience

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in commissioning and maintaining C&I systems in large-scale thermal power plants.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complex control systems and instrumentation in power generation facilities.
